Many congratulations to all who have raced in the Midland Road Relays – trust you are pleased with your time and enjoyed the day. It was absolutely fantastic and to come away with a team bronze, two teams in the top 10 and a complete third team says something about the wonderful ladies we have in our squad. I think we were initially concerned about the weather, however, we were fortunate enough to see the sun and the day was glorious. The long legs didn’t seem to phase those who tackled them and even the slight different first mile (for those who hadn’t completed the race last year) didn’t worry folks either. Laura led out the ‘A’ team with the first of the long legs and returned putting the team into second place. With a big gap between first (Charnwood) and us in second, it was hardwork for all the girls to reduce the gap. There was great running by all the athletes and although we moved into third position, our last leg runner – Nicki Ottley De La Salle, ran a fantastic third leg almost catching the Birchfield athlete – another 50 metres and we would have finished second!!
The teams finished 3rd, 9th and 36th. Absolutely brilliant. Well done everyone and great to see such great team support and encouragement too. Special mention to Lisa Dickinson who competed in her first Notts race – great to have you on board Lisa – wonderful performance and long may this continue.
A few stats: 57 teams started; 47 teams finished; Notts AC had the highest placed ‘B’ team; Notts AC had the highest placed ‘C’ team!! Wow – girls you are all absolutely brilliant!!!
