Ian Mackintosh

It is with great sadness that the club announces the passing of Ian Mackintosh (Aged 69) one of Notts AC’s past athletes. He lost his fight for life following a lengthy illness, which I am sure he battled with to the end. Ian was as well as a decent road and cross country runner in the 80s and 90s, a great supporter of Notts AC, contributing financially to the cost of the Club House and other projects and also was membership secretary. He ran below 2hrs 40mins for the marathon despite being well into his 40s and being one of Graham Astill’s group of runners was a regular at the Saturday morning hilly 10m training runs round Bestwood Country Park and the Sunday morning runs from Papplewick. He was a true gentleman and it was a privilege to know Ian, be a friend and have numerous running battles with him and other group members during training and racing on over country and the roads.

Our thoughts at this very sad time are with wife Sonia, his 2 girls and the rest of the family.

Ian’s funeral is at Bramcote Crematorium on Monday 19 December at 2pm.
